
The Concert Band is a performance based ensemble that emphasizes advancing musicianship and playing techniques of students. Concert Band students have the opportunity to perform both classic and contemporary music literature. The Concert Band performs in two concerts per year and rehearses two times per cycle during activity period. Concert Band is a graded class that meets during activity periods. Students also attend group lessons throughout the day. Anyone with previous instrumental music experience (Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, and Percussion) is encouraged to join.

The Jazz Band is an audition only performance based ensemble that emphasizes advancing musicianship and playing techniques of students. Jazz Band students have the opportunity to perform many different style of music within the genre of “jazz.” (Blues, Funk, Latin, Rock) The Jazz Band performs in two concerts per year as well as several other community functions. The Jazz Band rehearses twice a cycle during activity period as well as after school on Tuesdays. Jazz Band is a graded class that meets during activity periods. Anyone with previous instrumental jazz experience (Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Guitar, Bass, and Drum set) is encouraged to audition.

The Chorus is a performance based ensemble that emphasizes advancing musicianship and singing techniques of students. Chorus students have the opportunity to perform both classic and contemporary choral literature. The Chorus performs in two concerts per year and rehearses two times per cycle during activity period. Chorus is a graded class that meets during activity periods. Students also attend group lessons throughout the day. Anyone with previous vocal music performance experience is encouraged to join.

The Chamber Singers is an audition only performance based ensemble that emphasizes advancing musicianship and singing techniques of students. Chamber Singers have the opportunity to perform both classic and contemporary choral literature. The Chamber Singers perform in two concerts per year as well as several other community functions. The chamber singers rehearse after school on Wednesdays. Anyone with previous vocal music performance experience is encouraged to audition.

The Marching Band performs their field show at home and away football games, as well as serving as a pep band. In addition to football games the Marching Band actively participates in the United States Scholastic Band Association competition circuit, as well as local Marching Band adjudications. The marching band also participates in local community parades throughout the fall season. The Marching Band rehearses after school on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the fall sports season. Anyone with previous Marching Band experience (Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, Percussion, and Color Guard) is encouraged to join.

The Pen Argyl Area Music Association (PAAMA) is a parent group that supports the instrumental and vocal music programs at Pen Argyl High School. The PAAMA coordinates all fundraising for the music program. The PAAMA holds monthly meetings in room A-121 at 7:00 PM on the First Monday of every month during the school year.
