Math Department

Gower, Sarah

Mrs. Gower received her Bachelors in Math at Moravian College, and a minor in Computer Science. She received her Masters in Instructional Technology from Wilkes University. She started teaching at Pen Argyl in 2004. She teaches Geometry and Algebra here at the high school. Outside of school she enjoys skiing, snowmobiling, reading, knitting, crocheting, and biking.

Horvath, Marsha

Mrs. Horvath received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Moravian College (’85) and Masters of Education in Mathematics from DeSales University (’01). She started teaching at Pen Argyl in 1998. Mrs. Horvath teaches AP Calculus, PreCalculus, Algebra 3/Trig, and Algebra B. She enjoys cooking, reading, crossword puzzles and Sudoku. She also meets regularly with friends for coffee at Wegman’s.

Meyers, Jeffrey

Mr. Meyers attended Elizabethtown College for Bachelors of Science.  He is currently attending Desales University for his Masters’ Degree. Mr. Meyers has a Mathematics Degree with concentration in Secondary Education and a minor in Psychology. He started teaching at Pen Argyl in 2005. Mr. Meyers teaches Compass Math and statistics. He is the varsity boys’ soccer coach and the JV girl’s soccer coach, also coaching soccer for Wind Gap AAA U-16 and U-14 girls, as well as officiating soccer.

Pezzuto, Toni Ann

Mrs. Pezzuto is an algebra teacher and attendance officer.  Mrs. Pezzuto was a substitute for the Pen Argyl Area School District for over five years before joining the staff in the fall of 1994. She attended Holy Family College and Kutztown University, earning a degree in secondary education, mathematics, as well as attending East Stroudsburg University for post graduate studies earning a master’s equivalency in mathematics. Her hobbies include reading, painting, drawing, walking, bike riding, rock climbing, and being with family and friends.

Pipech, Robert

Mr. Pipech received his Bachelor’s of Science degree from Saint Francis University. He also has a degree in Secondary Education – Mathematics. Mr. Pipech started teaching at Pen Argyl in the fall of 2008. He teaches Algebra 2, Algebra 1, and Introduction to Algebra A. Mr. Pipech likes to play sports including soccer and baseball, workout, lift weights, run, and to spend time with his family. He also coaches soccer and baseball here at Pen Argyl High School.

Smith, Mary

Mrs. Smith is a full-time teacher of mathematics, Mrs. Smith is also a 1986 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Polymer Science. Upon graduation, she worked from 1986 – 1994 with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio. After deciding to change her career interest to education, she enrolled at East Stroudsburg University.

Sup, Bethann

Ms. Sup teaches mathematics and web page design. Ms. Sup has been working at Pen Argyl High school since fall 2000. She earned her Secondary Education Mathematics degree from Lock Haven University and her Masters in Technology in the k-12 classroom from Desales University. Outside of school, Ms. Sup does work for the Girl Scouts, is a life guard and a small craft safety instructor for the American Red Cross.

Buscemi, Josephine

Miss Buscemi is in her first year teaching at Pen Argyl High school. She earned her Spanish and ESL Education degree from East Stroudsburg University and completed student teaching at Pen Argyl High School and Pleasant Valley Intermediate. Mrs. Buscemi is currently working towards her Masters in Educational Technology from Arcadia University. Outside of school, Miss Buscemi enjoys watching Spanish TV, taking care of her pet frogs, and learning about protecting our environment.

Pessina, Angela

Miss Pessina is a spanish teacher and an advisor to the Climbing Club and Recycling Club. Miss Pessina has been working at Pen Argyl since the fall of 2007. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Pittsburgh and got certified to teach at Kutztown University. Outside of school, Miss Pessina enjoys traveling (usually visiting friends at the same time) and watching The Office & the Eagles. She also works at a restaurant in Bethlehem.

Poppele, Robert

Mr. Poppele is a graduate of Bridgewater-Raritan High School East in Bridgewater, NJ. He received his bachelor's degree from Bloomsburg University and spent one year studying abroad at the University of Valencia, Spain. Prior to teaching, Mr. Poppele's corporate career required travel throughout Latin America, Europe, and Canada. He is currently working towards a Master's Degree at Cedar Crest College.

Repsher, Dwight

Mr. Repsher teaches German 1-4. He attended high school at Pen Argyl High School. Mr. Repsher received his bachelor's degree from Albright College. He also received his Master's in business Administration from Moravian College. He also taught at Bigerville High School, in Bigerville, Pa. In school, Mr. Repsher is the Athletic Director.

Pavan, Lee

Mrs. Pavan is a guidance counselor and advisor to peer mediation.  She has worked at Pen Argyl High School since 1998 and also did her internship here during the 1994-95 school year.  Mrs. Pavan has a bachelors degree from Penn State University with a major in Business Logistics and a minor in German,  a masters degree from Lehigh University in Education and Counseling, and a specialized diploma from the Northampton Community College in Chemical Dependency Counseling.  Outside of school Mrs. Pavan enjoys traveling, camping, reading and spending time with her family.

Sampson, Eric

Mr. Sampson is a guidance counselor at Pen Argyl. Mr. Sampson graduated from Pen Argyl and attended East Stroudsburg University and Kutztown University. He previously was a guidance counselor at Nazareth H. S. and Shawnee M. S.

Curcio, Karin

Mrs. Curcio graduated from College Misericordia in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She graduated from DeSales University in 2002 with a Masters of Science Degree in Nursing with a concentration in Community Health Nursing. Mrs. Curcio has been employed at Pen Argyl High School since 1985. She also teaches at Penn State University in the Lehigh Valley LPN program.  Mrs. Curcio loves spending time with her family and her Maltese “Stuart” whenever possible.  She enjoys following all PA sporting events when able to as well as Lafayette Football and Basketball.

Campbell, Krista

Miss Campbell teaches AP Lit, Honors English 9, CP English 9, Writing for College and Intro to Theater, also being the Drama club advisor. Miss Campbell started at Pen Argyl in September of 2000. She attended SUNY at Brockport where she earned a degree in English, and received a Master of Science in Education from Wilkes University. Outside of school Miss Campbell does more school work. She also enjoys time with her daughter Molly.

Dotta, Joyce

Mrs. Dotta is a graduate of Pius X High School in Roseto, PA, and received her bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg University. Mrs. Dotta has taught in Bangor High School, Allentown Central Catholic High School, and Immaculate Conception School before coming here to teach.

Fritchey, Philip

Mr. Fritchey received his BA in English Literature from Moravian College. He also received his M. Ed. from Lehigh University. Mr. Fritchey started teaching at Pen Argyl in 2009.

Hance, Cheryl

She attended Panther Valley High School. Mrs. Hance received her Bachelor's Degree from East Stroudsburg University. She earned her MS degree from Lehigh University, and her JD from the Widener University School of Law.

Shank, Spring

Mrs. Shank received her BA in English and Secondary Education with a minor in Communication from DeSales University. She is currently attending Gonzaga University for her Master's in Communication and Organizational Leadership. Mrs. Shank began her teaching career out of college in 2007, teaching General English 11, Graduation Project, and Journalism. She is the Boy's JV soccer coach, and the Girl's Assistant soccer coach. Mrs. Shank also volunteers on the Committee for the Slate Belt Relay for Life. She enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Stefanel, Kim

Mrs. Stefanel received her BS in Health and Physical Education from ESU. Master’s of Science in Health Education will be completed in May 2010 from ESU. She started teaching in Pen Argyl as a part-time Health Teacher in 2005-2006 school year. Went full-time in the ’06-’07 school year. Mrs. Stefanel teaches Health, Physical Education and Driver’s Education, she is also the advisor for SADD and Recycling Clubs. Outside of school she enjoys spending time with family and friends and their kids, going to the beach, traveling, going on days trips, working out and doing things around her house.

Zale, Brian

Mr. Zale got his Health and Physical Education Degree from West Chester University. He started teaching here at Pen Argyl in 2007. Mr. Zale teaches Health and Physical Education. Outside of school he coaches football and track.

McCarty, Sallyann

Mrs. McCarty graduated from Faith Christian High School and attended East Stroudsburg University for Elementary and Special Education. She attended Immaculate College for a certificate in Home Economics. Before coming to Pen Argyl Mrs. McCarty previously taught at Gateway School of the Lehigh Valley.

Morgan, Scott

Mr. Morgan received his B.S. in Education from Millersville in 1976. He started teaching at Pen Argyl in 1976. He teaches Industrial Arts and Drafting. Mr. Morgan also enjoys hunting and fishing.

Cesare, Alison

Mrs. Cesare got her degrees from; BS in Business Administration- Indiana University of PA;  Art Education  Certification- Kutztown University Masters Degree in Strategic Planning and Curriculum Development- Wilkes University She started teaching art at PAAHS in 1997. Mrs. Cesare is the freshmen class advisor, set design director, art dept coordinator. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and two beautiful dogs, traveling, being outdoors, and shopping.

Powrie, Suzanne

Ms. Powrie attended Chatham High School, NJ. She received her bachelor's degree from Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY. She has also taught at Salisbury Township Middle School.

Lavenburg, Ann

Mrs. Lavenburg received her undergraduate degree, a BS in Education with certification in English 7-12 and Library Science K-12, from Slippery Rock University in 1976.   In 1993 she finished her Masters in Library Science at Kutztown University.  She began her teaching career in 1976 as a long term substitute at Bald Eagle High School.  After substituting for 6 years and working various other jobs she began teaching at Pen Argyl in the fall of 1991.
As the librarian she primarily teaches Information Literacy in formal teaching situations.  Most of her teaching is very individualized.  As needed she gives students assistance: in formatting papers, with MLA citations, in finding information, with sentence structure, grammar and other similar tasks; she fills in the gaps in their mastery of the concepts that the formal classroom teacher endeavors to teach and thus she helps to complete the learning experience.
In her personal time, she spends a lot of time with her two dogs. They take long walks or bike rides.  She does a lot of gardening in the summer.  She also gets to actually read some of the books she buys for the library during the summer. She is also very active in my local church.  She teaches Sabbath school classes and is in charge of the health division.  She runs a health information booth at the local Walnutport Canal Festival each year and they hold vegetarian cooking classes throughout the year. She has been on the school board for over 15 years for the LVSDA elementary school in Whitehall, Pennsylvania.

Ferullo, Adam

Mr. Ferullo is the newest member to the Pen Argyl High School Staff. He received his undergraduate degree from Dickinson College, and his Master's degree from the university of Colorodo. Mr. Ferullo has previous teaching experience in New York City and Baltimore.

Hawk, Donnie

Mr. Hawk graduated from Bangor High School and attended Moravian College. He was a student teacher at Nazareth Middle School and Liberty High School . Mr. Hawk also substituted for the Easton Area School District. He also helps coach the football team here at PAHS.

Hinton, Ryan

Mr. Hinton has his BA in History and BS in Secondary Education Social Studies from Bloomsburg University. He started teaching at Pen Argyl in 2006. Mr. Hinton teaches Honors United States History I, United States History I, and World Cultures. He is involved in Boy Scout Troop 98, Venture Crew 1629, Akelaland Cub Scout Camp Staff, and the West End Fair Association.

Novello, Catherine

Ms. Novello graduated from Mountain Lakes High School in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey. She received her B. A. from Lafayette College. Ms. Novello completed her graduate work in education at Lehigh University where she received her M.E. in Secondary Education.

Schooley, Robert

Mr. Schooley graduated from Easton Area High School in Easton, Pennsylvania. He received his B. S. from Syracuse University. Mr. Schooley received his Educational Instructional Certificate from Lafayette College, and his Master of Education Degree from Allentown College of Saint Francis de Sales.

Chromey, Natasha

Mrs. Chromey – Science Teacher of Chemistry, Physical Science and General Science, in addition to, Leo Club Advisor.  Mrs. Chromey has been working at Pen Argyl High school since the fall of 2006.  She earned her Chemistry degree and Masters Degree in Education from East Stroudsburg University. 

Kunkle, Brett

Mr. Kunkle received his Undergraduate in BSE Physics from Millersville University, and his Master’s in Instructional Technology from Wilkes University. He started teaching at Pen Argyl in 2003. Mr. Kunkle teaches Earth & Space Science, General Science, and Honors Laboratory Physics. Outside of school, he enjoys volleyball and fishing.

Marsteller, Robert

Mr. Marsteller has a BFA (Bachelors of Fine Arts) degree from New York University in Television and Film Production and a Med (Masters of Education) from Kutztown University in Secondary Curriculum and Instruction. He started teaching at Pen Argyl in 2007. Mr. Marsteller currently teaches General Biology, Aquatic Biology, and Anatomy & Physiology. He has taught Lab Biology and Environmental Science in the past, as well. Mr. Marsteller practices Aikido, a Japanese martial art and also writes songs about spores, molds, and fungi.

Oakley, Jason

Mr. Oakley received his Bachelors in Science (Earth Science) and his Med with a Principal Cert from East Stroudsburg University. He started teaching at Pen Argyl during the 1999-2000 school year. Mr. Oakley teaches Earth and Space Science (Honors and CP) Outside of school, he is the Cub Scout Den Leader. He enjoys playing the guitar, hiking/geocaching, and camping.

Post, Michael

Mr. Post teaches both environmental science and laboratory biology. Mr. Post started teaching in Pen Argyl in 2009. He graduated from Millersville University with a degree in biology education. Outside of school Mr. Post competes 3-4 times a year in powerlifting meets.

Snelling, Tim

Mr. Snelling teaches Physical Science and Lab Chemistry. He attended Judith Gap High School in Montana. He received his Bachelor's degree from Montana Tech. Mr. Snelling also received his M. S. for Geochemistry from Montana Tech. He worked for 16 years in the chemical and semiconductor industry before getting his teaching certificate through East Stroudsburg University.

Lear, Katherine

Mrs. Lear earned her degrees from East Stroudsburg University. She has a Bachelor of Science in Media Communications and Technology, her certification in education, and her Master’s of Education in Reading. Mrs. Lear started teaching here in 2006. She teaches Read 180/English and Reading Remediation. Outside of school, she likes to read, watch movies, travel, and see her friends.  

Miller, Catherine

Mrs. Miller is a Reading Specialist teaching English and READ 180 classes.  She has been working at Pen Argyl High school since fall 2005.  Mrs. Miller earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Monroe College in New Rochelle, NY and her Education Masters degree in Reading from East Stroudsburg University.  Mrs. Miller has also earned her Principal Certification through studies at California University of Pennsylvania.  Outside of school, Mrs. Miller spends time traveling with her husband of 25 years, Ken, and is actively pursuing her Doctorate from Walden University.

Reiche, P. Timothy

Mr. Reiche teaches Concert Band, Jazz Band, Chorus, Chamber Singers, Marching Band, and Music Theory. Mr. Reiche has been been working at PAHS since fall 2005. He earned his degree in Music Education from west Chester University. Outside of school Mr. Reiche enjoys outdoor activities such as: Skiing, Sailing, Biking, and Hunting.

Bogart, Nicole

Mrs. Bogart got her degree from Bloomsburg University. She has a bachelors in Business Education and a minors in Business and Information Technology. She started teaching here in the fall of 2007. Here at the High school, Mrs. Bogart teaches Accounting, Yearbook, and Computer Apps 1&2. She is the Yearbook Design Advisor, Colorguard Instructor, and the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Advisor. Outside of school, she enjoys skiing, bowling, line dancing, scrap booking, photography, and watching sports/reality TV.

Flyte, Diane

Mrs. Flyte graduated from Pen Argyl High School and received her B.S. in Business Education from Bloomsburg University. Mrs. Flyte has taken graduate courses in computer education at East Stroudsburg University and Allentown College of St. Francis (de Sales) and has received her master's equivalency.

Mrs. Graf graduated from Old Forge High School in Old Forge, Pennsylvania. Where she received her B.S. in Business Education and Masters from Bloomsburg University. Mrs.Graf completed her graduate work in Business at Bloomsburg University where she received her M.E. in Business.

Bohanon, Sheila

Mrs. Bohanon received her undergrad and graduate degrees from ESU. She has teaches Elementary Ed/Special Ed and is a reading specialist. She has a masters in education and is currently attending PSU for ESL certificate.  Prior to teaching, Mrs. Bohanon was pursuing a degree in Business administration which she would still like to complete. She started teaching in the fall of 2005. Mrs. Bohanon teaches Emotional Support/ Learning Support and Reading. She enjoys traveling, mostly to Colombia, South America for extended periods to be with her exchange students families, going to the gym, reading, crocheting/knitting, spending time with her grandchildren and taking care of her horse, goats, dogs, cats and fish and of course, her husband!

Drozic, Samuel

Mr. Drozic’s degree is a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education with a Master’s Equivalency, plus 30 credits in various master’s level coursework, from several institutions. He began teaching at Pen Argyl HS in the 1980-1981 school year, working as a Learning Support Teacher. Mr. Drozic taught a class at Wilson HS for two years, in which all subjects were taught to mostly students from the Easton Children’s Home. Outside of school, he enjoys hunting, fishing, boating, and water skiing, as well as playing and singing classic rock ‘n roll.

Frable, Lisa

Mrs. Frable is in learning support, and teaches Math, Science, English, and History. She went to Pleasant Valley High School. Mrs. Frable received her bachelor's degree at East Stroudsburg University.

Snyder, Beth

Mrs. Snyder teaches learning support reading, learning support math, learning support English, and inclusion Algebra B. Mrs. Snyder has been teaching at Pen Argyl High School since the fall of 1988. She earned her teaching degree (special education K-12) from Bloomsburg University. She received her Master’s Degree from Wilkes University. Mrs. Snyder has been the accompanist for the Primary Sunday School classes at Grace United Methodist Church since the fall of 1988. She spends her time outside of school with her family. She enjoys gardening, reading and watching movies.

Kessler, Mary

Mary Kessler grew up in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Pen Argyl Area High School. She is the guidance department secretary.

Metzgar, Bernadette

Bernadette Metzgar grew up in Easton, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Easton Area High School. She is a high school secretary and works with the attendance officers.

Sousa, Maureen

Maureen Sousa grew up in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Pen Argyl Area High School. Mrs. Sousa is the secretary to the high school principal.

Warner, Ruth

Aide in guidance suite. She graduated from Bangor H. S. While she was in High School, she was a candy striper at Easton Hospital and earned over 1000 Volunteer Hours and was honored by the Easton Rotary Club with a Savings Bond. She volunteered with Liberty Ambulance in Bangor for 6 years as an Emergency Medical Technician. She was an Athletic Trainer for Pius X High School for 3 years. She was also an Athletic Trainer for Bangor High School for 4 years and at Pen Argyl High School for 8 Years.

Beardsworth, Allen

Mr. Beardsworth received a B.S. in Education from East Stroudsburg State College in 1977. He also received his Masters Equivalency from the State of Pennsylvania, SUNY Binghamton, Wilkes University, and Lehigh University. Mr. Beardsworth also received a Masters of Education / Principal Certification from East Stroudsburg University in 1998. He started teaching here during the 1979-1980 school year. Mr. Beardsworth teaches Chemistry, Physical Science, and is the Assistant Principal (1997 – Present).

Smith, John

Mr. Smith attended ESU where he earned his Masters in Education and his Principal Certification. Before he became principal at PAHS he taught History for many years in another district.
